This Charming Mixtape Out Now!!! Go to the myspace to DOWNLOAD THAT GOOD SHIT.
Mixing by Machine Drum and additional vocals by Jesse Boykins III - Together these three put together an awesomely danceable mixtape. 'Always Love You' and 'No Sunshine' revitalize two classics into a new fresh genre that equally impresses live. London breaks new ground with the stand out track Grey Sage (Misty Night) Intro with twittering electronics and melancholy synths that make you think you've just participated in something beautiful by the time it's over. Participation in this mixtape makes us excited for London's career and to see where it turns ahead.
Tonight we got a behind the scenes look at the making of ThisCharmingMixtape with London and Boykins III. Jesse's new video for pantyhose is hot, filmed down the street in Bed Sty it features some sensual laundromat scenes you gotta check out!
I have so much to post from the past two weeks! I'm gonna start with this:
For some reason, I've been really into the rap/hip-hop/grime scene that's going on across the pond. I'm still tryna familiarize myself with all the artists over there, but every time I uncover somebody that I've never heard of before, I fall in love. I got this one track by messing around on youtube. Found a video of a bunch of girls dancing to it and traced the song back to the artist, Kid Bass. Literally a week later, the video dropped. The video is definitely kind of lame, but the song is so good, so I like to think that the two kind of cancel each other out. I left this song on repeat for at least an hour when I first heard it, no lie.
I have so many more videos to post! But I'll get to them later. Remember to check out myspace.com/londonwave on a daily basis for exclusive tracks from Theophilus London before his new mixtape drops this Friday!!
It was totally dope: we got to get our blacks and whites on as we rocked the set with thriller dance moves and svedka set to the eerie beat of zombies. Heavy dark makeup and big hair were common themes with styling by thetwentyten.
The set is returning to Brooklyn for a Valentines Day show at Refuge with Elle Rex, who covered photography last night.
Last night I had the pleasure of going to Cafeteria for the first time for a very early breakfast. My silver dollar pancakes with fresh berries and chantilly cream were further enjoyed by the lovely presence I had sitting next to me. No, I didn't eat breakfast with RuPaul herself, or Andre Charles himself. But rather, I sat next to one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen before. Then she spoke. I don't wanna call her a tranny because I feel like that's politically incorrect and mean. However, calling her a transvestite sounds even meaner. Point being, she was beautiful. So beautiful she was enchanting. She had one of those faces that you just want to stare at for hours. I wish I could have taken a picture with her. Absolutely stunning.
The reason I bring this up is because it reminded me of RuPaul. On my way home from Cafeteria, I rethought this lovely woman and RuPaul and how when I was four or five I had a HUGE fascination with RuPaul. HUGE. I remember when my mom tried to tell me RuPaul was a man:
ashley: "mom look its rupaul!" mom: "ashley did you know rupauls a man?" a: "no... its rupaul." m: "but rupaul is really a man." a: "but she's rupaul." m: "yes. but rupaul is really a man that dresses like a woman." a: "no mom shes rupaul." m: "okay."
Now, believe it or not, RuPaul is a great musical talent. Fearless, ferocious and fabulous! The first video here, "Supermodel (You Better Work)" was a pretty big hit on MTV back when they played music videos. The second video, is apparently the gay anthem... HMM.
is this yr gay anthem???
>>HEY. Also, the Tayisha Busay show was pretty hilarious. Updates on our thoughts and the short events of the night later. For now, sleep is a necessity.
Taking a break from all of the Theophilus London excitement that's stirring around Brooklyn right now (the mixtape comes so soon, sooo soon!), I bring you, Chip Tha Ripper.
I just wanted to switch things up a little bit. Chip has a style and sound unlike anything that we've been giving you recently here on Kim & Cookie, but he is definitely somebody worth listening to. I originally heard this one track of his when it was featured on the "Brainiac Society Vol. 1" Mixtape (which can be downloaded here - right click and save as to get the file). I put that one short track on every muhfuckin playlist I had, until I downloaded Chip's full-length feature, "MONEY".
This one track, "Catch Tha Beat" has some of the best lines I've heard in a song. Kinda crude, and funny to listen to when you're in the car with your dad Christmas shopping (imagine that scenario when you're listening to it). Download, memorize & repeat!
"...I'm in the comfy condo with every one of your ladies, now say "hi" girls....shhhh, okay, how about some silence; let's see if i can focus while these girlies tickle my privates; yes, baby i'm the ripper, baby i'm a winner, thick girls are freaks, but she say she's a beginner; i'll put you on a diet if you tryna get thinner, babies for breakfast, babies for dinner..."
DOWNLOAD Chip Tha Ripper's "Catch Tha Beat", off his mixtape "MONEY", here!
If you like what you hear and wanna download the entire mixtape, or any of his mixtapes, hit up Chip's Myspace @ myspace.com/chiptharipper - YOU WON'T BE SORRY.

A while back we told you about a show on the Pratt campus with Ninjasonik and the all time crowd pleaser Chet Chadon. We gave you pictures of Chet's performance, but nothing else regarding the night. Better late than never, here's a video recapping the Ninja's part of the night. Look closely. It's a doozey!

Sorry, I'm really into the throwback's right now! Does anybody remember this??? I remember hearing it when I was a kid, always thought it was Michael Jackson, but it ain't, it's Rockwell. And yeah he's kinda coppin' Mike's style, but whatever he do what he want!
Going along with Ian's throwback New Edition vid & download, here's another "oldie but goodie". Back in the day (back when the nig was a CRAZY muhfucka) I used to be a big Busta Rhymes fan. There I was in suburban Massachusetts, the only black kid with a fro (and the only black kid for that matter, hm) who'd beg her dad to listen to Busta-Bus on the way to school. This was one of my favorites, and turns out, Ian likes it too! This song is featured on one of the tracks on the IHMDJ 90-Minute Mixtape (you can check it out at ihmdj.com). Check out the video and download the track from the mixtape.
While everyone is gearing up for the release of Theophilus' "ThisCharmingMixtape" (which should be dropping before we know it), Theophilus himself is gearing up for the mixtape release party and dropping little exclusives all over the place to keep us quiet and waiting. Here's one gift for y'all:
OK Universal is MAJOR COKBLOKIN us from hosting this video, but we know this song is quality, and these dance moves are quality (in the vid, watch the kid in red, he freaks out) so grab a Kim&Cookie oldie: New Edition's Cool It Now
