Lil' Kim

This friday will be all about KIM

Last Friday we overlooked Kim Kardashian's birthday on the 21st so we'll celebrate for that as well as Halloween. Don't miss this one!

Lil' Kim's first cd Hardcore is seriously unknown and her awesome opener Big Moma Thang (featuring Ja) is a trill bitch anthem. Let's just say this line "Can't tell by the diamonds in my ringsThat's how many times I wanna cum, twenty-one" has been stuck in my head all week.
  • Which Kim do you guys like best??
  • Is Lil' Kim outta jail yet?
  • Are all those Louis Vuitton tats real!?

Max Steele and the Party Ice

Max Steele and the Party Ice is a hot music project...

Don't believe my cred asshole...here's what the myspace had to say:

"Max Steele is a 23 year old performer. The Party Ice is a performance project (band), using the disco music to make new spaces for dancing, talking, and coming out."

Here's his wonderful Pickaxe and Shovel

For more Max, and to see him (or is it them?) check thim out at Europa in Greenpoint on November 7th

Oh oh and my b on the show, I'll speak closer to the microphone...unless you don't want me to talk and in that case just call in and request less Kim and more Cookie or just neither and more music or silence.

Regardless, you'll be hearing Pickaxe and Shovel, some Lil' Kim and Stilettos in the Club on Friday!

Wale "The Manipulation"

fail lindsay.

I posted this link over on my blog the other day, and someone suggested that I post it here, too. Why not? Makes sense.

Fresh Daily Freestyle/Theophilus London x Jesse Boykins III "Higher"

I can't watch this whole video right now because I am a little tied up with someone else watching Law & Order CI, but I'm pretty sure the dude Fresh Daily seriously freestyles for a good six minutes here. Fucking incredible. I totally respect people who can freestyle.. it is such an amazing talent.

If this is the first time you've heard of Fresh Daily, be sure to check out his Myspace at myspace.com/freshdotdaily.

And while I'm posting videos and taking up mad space on the hood internet, check out this video from Theophilus London featuring Jesse Boykins III. It is a must see!! I saw pictures from this shoot a while back, but I saw this for the first time today. You know I dig it.. Two of my favorites sharing the same screen? Oh hallelujah!

Jesse Boykins III's new CD 'The Beauty Created' comes out Novemeber 11th. That special holiday right before my birthday. On your day off from work and/or school, why don't you pick a copy up. And pick one up for me too as a 'happy twenty'. You can also go check out his new tracks at his Myspace: myspace.com/jesseboykinsiii.

Are you busy Saturday night??? If you are, cancel your plans and go to this show!

If you're not doing anything, you have no reason not to go bitches!

Ninjasonik 'Art School Girls' Video

I have this thing where I don't like to get between 5 and 6 hours of sleep. I always need either more or less, hence why I'm still awake doing this.

A certain somebody e-mailed this video to me today. Totally made waking up worthwhile. I love this shit so much. Classic!

And remember guys - the Kim & Cookie show will be on air live TODAY (Friday) FROM 7-8, with a maybe special guest Sarah Palin????? Oh and my brother might be there too!! I'm going to drop one of my favorite songs of right now, so if you care about me at all you'll tune in! And as always, at some point during the weekend (or maybe the weekend after that if I pull another lazy), the link to the show will be available to stream/download/get as a podcast. We'll let you know!

The second thing I have for tonight is the third mixtape from thehoodinternet that you can go stream via imeem on their site right now....GO! Its got some really good mash-ups and mix-downs that are good to do work to/not do work to.

Viva Friday

Radio Show Download Links/Podcasts & PUMPS IN A BUMP

So last Friday was supposed to be our major official show, but some things happened and we weren't able to get into the station. Ian and I set up a temporary pop-up radio station in my room and went to town. I was supposed to post the link to it on Saturday, but I was probably a hot mess. No, my parents were here. And then Sunday I was too busy working. Seriously, I have an excuse for every day this week, but I'm gonna stop there haha. ANYWAY, point being, we have a kind of first radio show link to post, and a real first radio show link to post that will be LIVE ON PRATTRADIO.COM THIS FRIDAY. I'll probably end up posting both of the links/directions to get the shows together (one of them will probably have to be streamed as a podcast from your favorite music player and mine, iTunes). But, I'll let you know.

Until then. Let me find something to give you as a "sorry i forgot it was our anniversary" mood enhancer...

Try this baby on for size!

MC Hammer - "Pumps In A Bump", aye aye ayeee! Ain't never seen a banana hammock so silly sexy, have you?!

Matt&Kim - Daylight

Matt & Kim's last video for Yeah Yeah was shot at the Pratt Gym, and used the same kitsch and spirit their brand new video "Daylight" does. They are such former art students with the stop motion scene at the end I absolutely love it. Maybe they learned from one of my professors? Ian & Ashley - Matt & Kim 2k12? Jk we have 0 music talent. Last year they played the Spring Concert at Pratt and I got to meet and talk with Matt - very sincere guy.

The duo are currently touring and will play a Halloween Show in Brooklyn at the Danbro Studio Warehouse.

In the club, drunk as what?

Sgt. Sass are the fantastic queer Philadelphia rap duo who recently played a show at new club/ street shop Alphabeta in Greenpoint. I only got to catch the 3 or so songs of their set but they had everyone dancing and in good spirits. The video is of their Bitchy club song "I'll Take Your Man." They released their mix tape 'Double S 4 Mayor' last fall and they're currently playing shows in Philadelphia (including one tonight).

Here's their $$$$awesome$$$ Faggot Snappin' (Jappatack Body Remix) , which you'll definitely be hearing on Kim&Cookie. While listening, try to think of what 'faggot snappin' means and how you would interpret it as a dance. Everything I've come up with just fails.

Wiley "Summertime"

This is mos def old news, but I just stumbled upon this guy the other day. His name is Wiley, he's a rapper from the UK, and he has been around for a minute. All his shit sounds solid as fuck, but the remixes of his stuff are (dare I say it) even better (check out his myspace at myspace.com/eskiboywiley for his non-remixed tracks). I seriously listened to this "Summertime Bart B More Remix" on repeat for about an hour before class yesterday. Click the link for the download.

Wiley - "Summertime (Bart B More Remix)" >> on YSI because zShare was having some personal issues with me. I might re-upload when this expires next week.

WhaCHaka Talking bout?

I hit up the excellent Dizzzle party on Saturday and got really into Chaka Khan after seeing her perform. She's this totally anonymous star that I had no idea had some greats like 'ain't nobody' and my her 1984 cover of Prince's 'I feel for you'

how khan you not be feeling her too?!

Jesse Boykins III "Tabloids"

I really should be studying for my art history midterm right now, but while I'm here and Youtubing like a felon, I want to give some love to Jesse Boykins III. If you are a singer, I am sorry, but you will probably lose the race for "most soothing voice" against him, at least in my opinion. Check out this video for his track "Tabloids".

Go to iTunes right now and buy Dopamine. And mark your calendars for Oct. 21st, 'cause then you can go straight back to iTunes and buy his full length hollaaa.

And be sure to tune into the Kim & Cookie Radio Show, Fridays 7-8 on prattradio.com to here more from Jesse Boykins III & Theophilus London.
(No worries if you're too social to be near a computer at that time on a Friday. Check this blog on Saturday to stream the show at your convenience. See how easy we're making listening to good music for you?!)

Very brief opening ceremonies & Theophilus London "TNT"

This was all supposed to be up and rolling this weekend, but my time management skills are failing me. But, hey, at least it's going now, right?!

Essentially, Ian and I are gonna post any and all music ish we get our hands on and want to spread word of. To kick this off, imma post a video from my buddy Theophilus London. This video is for his new joint, "TNT". The song is dope, and this video is dope. I never would have thought to use this effect, but I totally fucking dig how it works with the song.

To hear more from Theophilus, head over to his myspace (myspace.com/londonwave) and download his mixtape, JAM! If all that goodness isn't enough Theophilus for you (I know I had that problem), never fear!.. He'll be dropping a new mixtape so soon it hurts!!
